This 2019 Audi SQ5 Premium Plus is one of those vehicles. Over the past several years, the customer has trusted our team to maintain their SUV from routine oil changes to more advanced diagnostics. Today the SQ5 sits at just over 53,000 miles, and like many well-maintained European vehicles, it continues to perform exactly the way it was designed to.
This story highlights something we believe matters more than anything in automotive repair: trust, transparency, and catching problems early.
A Relationship Built Over Years of Service
The SQ5 has been serviced with us since around 36,000 miles, beginning with routine maintenance and inspections.
One of the early visits included a standard oil service and complimentary inspection to establish a baseline for the vehicle’s condition.
Later inspections continued to show the vehicle in excellent condition, with normal wear items like brakes and maintenance services being addressed along the way.
At around 47,000 miles, the vehicle received a full 40k service, including:
- Engine oil and filter
- Spark plugs
- Engine air filter
- Cabin air filter
- Fuel system cleaner
- Tire rotation
- Full vehicle inspection
These services are critical for Audi’s 3.0L turbocharged engine platform and help maintain long-term reliability.
During that same visit, the rear brakes were replaced after the brake warning light appeared, helping keep the vehicle operating safely and smoothly.

The Most Recent Visit: A Simple Oil Change
The customer recently brought the SQ5 in for something very routine: an oil change and inspection while they waited in the shop lobby.
During every visit, our technicians perform a complimentary digital inspection so owners can see exactly what we see under the vehicle.
Because the customer was in the waiting area, we offered something we often encourage when people are waiting:
“Want to come take a look underneath your car with us?”
Many people never get to see what their vehicle actually looks like from below, and transparency is a big part of how we operate.
Catching a Problem Early
During the inspection, our technician noticed something. The coolant level was low, which prompted a deeper look into the cooling system. Using an endoscope inspection tool, Nik found early signs of coolant residue near the water pump assembly.
At this stage:
- There were no warning lights
- No driveability issues
- No major damage yet
But catching the issue early was important.
Further inspection confirmed coolant contamination had begun entering nearby vacuum system components, which can eventually lead to boost regulation issues if left unresolved.
Because the issue was caught early, we were able to repair the system before it caused larger failures.
The Repairs Performed
To properly correct the issue and protect the engine system long term, the following components were replaced:
- Water pump
- Thermostat assembly
- Coolant control valve
- Vacuum reservoir and vacuum lines affected by coolant contamination
Additionally, because the front brakes had reached the end of their service life, the following were replaced:
- Front brake pads
- Front brake rotors
- Brake pad wear sensor
Once the repairs were completed, the vehicle was retested to ensure the system was operating properly.
Why Early Diagnosis Matters on the Audi SQ5
The Audi SQ5’s 3.0L turbocharged engine is incredibly capable, but like all modern engines, it relies on interconnected systems:
- Cooling system
- Vacuum system
- Turbo boost regulation
- Emissions components
A small coolant leak can sometimes spread into vacuum circuits and create much larger repair needs later. Catching the issue early helped prevent that.
